Auto Monkey’s mobile mechanic is fairly unique in the automotive industry. Unlike most car repair companies, we don't have a shop. Our mechanics go to the customer's location—whether that's at their home, office, or elsewhere. With Auto Monkey, customers can simply 1) Click to select a service. 2) Approve their repair estimate. 3) Schedule a repair time with their mechanic. 4) Go back to work or finish watching your tv show or movie. You'll get an app notification letting you know when it's done.
All payments are made using the app. Cash payments are NOT accepted. Check out this video on How it Works.
NO. CASH TRANSACTIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED. In fact, paying one of our platform's mechanics directly with cash, or asking and/or using them for additional services outside the platform, as a side deal or freelance services without written approval violates the Terms and Conditions users accept when approving services using our platform. This action immediately forfeits any rights or privileges with regards to Auto Monkey warranties or contractual obligations, and absolves Auto Monkey from any past, present and future problems or failures that are mechanical, electrical or otherwise related with any vehicle you own or use.

ALL payments are made through Auto Monkey's platform/app. This ensures both parties the highest level of PCI security available for you as a customer, for the mobile technicians, and for us as a company. Again, No Cash Payments. See the Do you accept cash payments section for more information on this.
No money is actually exchanged until AFTER a repair order is completed.
It is important to understand when you approve your repair estimate, Auto Monkey places a reservation on the amount of money you approve with your electronic signature. This practice is much like car or equipment rental companies. You may note the pending status displayed on your card's account. But, the account is not actually debited until the job is done.
If you decide to cancel your request, for whatever reason, the reservation is immediately released and you will no longer see any pending item.
Yes, Auto Monkey provides a 24 month/ 24,000 mile warranty IF Auto Monkey supplies the parts. While we will use parts supplied by the customer for their requested repairs, ALL warranties extended by Auto Monkey are null and void when a customer's privately purchased parts are used. If you have a warranty issue, please call us directly at 888-501-2201 so we can help warranty your previous service. A more in-depth explanation can be found on our Terms and Conditions Page.
Due to several customer requests, we have made tipping available on the platform. The option appears when the mechanic has Completed the repair order. You can see this on the Rate and Review page available once the repair is completed. However! You are not required to tip the mechanic.
Auto Monkey is committed to providing its customers the best care possible. While Auto Monkey does have ASE-Certified mobile mechanics registered on the platform, there is a substantial number of highly experienced and qualified workers in the industry that are not ASE-Certified.
Ranked from 1 to 5 (five being the best) you can rate your mobile mechanic. Mechanic ratings are not published outside the app. But they can be seen by any customer, in their app, that gets them as a mechanic. Due to Auto Monkey Safety Standards, Auto Technicians with total ranking below 4 stars are suspended from the app.
We love ratings, and encourage customers to share their experiences via Google and Social Media too.
We are excited to be offering a $200 referral bonus for mechanics. Stipulations to get the work referral bonus are that the mechanic must work a minimum of 20 billable hours and must have a rating of higher than 4 stars. Terms of bonus may change without notice.
You may cancel your automotive repair request, for no charge, at any time up until the mechanic's status shows On The Way. This option is easily seen in the app on your repair details. Please notate you're cancelation using the app's chat feature prior to tapping the cancelation button. If you need to cancel a repair after the mechanic is in route, you may need to contact the mechanic directly, or customer support. There may be charged a $25.00 cancellation service fee. Nobody can dispute, the world is in turmoil and things have been very topsy turvy since the closing of 2019. Everything has changed. The Auto Monkey business concept was actually conceived with just such circumstances in mind, and was launch following the height of the CoronaVirus Pandemic.
We are actively monitoring the coronavirus (COVID‑19) situation and are taking steps to help keep those that rely on our platform safe. Some of these steps include: mandated masks and gloves while working on, or around, your vehicle. Only in a few certain cases will our auto technicians even require access to the inside of your vehicle.

No. Auto Monkey does not have any mentoring, training or certification assistance programs. Mechanics should be well experienced and knowledgeable when applying to provide automotive repair services on this platform. If you're still fresh, we recommend working at a shop or in another environment where you can get the mentoring needed before going out on your own.
Auto Monkey does not provide refunds; however, the work is warrantied and we will dispatch an Auto Technician to fix any unsatisfactory work.
We are currently offering qualified automotive technicians up to $60/billable hr. Rates vary pending the mechanic's experience and certifications. Auto Monkey's goal is for mechanics to make or exceed AAA's reported mechanic's medium wage of $40k annually or ~$19/hr. Working full-time, we estimate our more experienced or certified mobile mechanics can around $125,000 annually if they are able to close over 35 hours/week.
Auto Monkey has established a partnership with well known reputable national suppliers to help provide the best pricing and possible parts warranty in the industry.
Mechanics are instructed to carefully catch any waste materials in special containers. They are then able to take the oil to AutoZone for recycling. Batteries are frequently returned to AutoZone as well for proper disposal. Other parts such as Alternators, Starter Motors, Brakes, etc are also recycled or refurbished when and where possible.
All mobile mechanics are 1099 (contract) workers and are required to carry their own automotive repair liability insurance.
